BINUSIANS ACHIEVEMENT AT HWA CHONG ASIA-PACIFIC YOUTH LEADER SUMMIT 2016

Hwa Chong Asia-Pacific Youth Leader Summit is a platform to discuss issues pertinent to the Asia-Pacific region for students who show their commitment to serve society. Located in Hwa Chong Institute Singapore, students from Australia, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, UK, USA, and Singapore gathered from 18-26 July 2016.  Two of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong’s students, Xavier Tarantino Usman and Deborah Priscilla Ruth participated in this prestigious event, accompanied by Ms. Angela Tijam as Teacher Chaperone.

Various exciting events have been prepared for this summit. It started with summit opening, which includes opening ceremony, cultural exhibition, and city tour. The students then visited various industry partner, such as Mediacorp, A*Star, and GIC Private Limited. They also have the opportunity to dialogue with famous figures, such as Mr. Lim Eng Hwee, Mr. Bilahari Kausikan, and Mr. Christopher Wilson. In between their packed schedules, a fun team bonding activity which strengthened their new friendships.

Xavier and Deborah managed to do their best during the summit. Their presentation, “Environment: Cry of the Earth” won “The Outstanding Group Presentation Award” for 2016 APYLS. They were able to present this to the President of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam, in the Istana.  It is such a remarkable achievement for our BINUSIANS, especially in an international platform. Here’s a quote from Louis Pasteur which is align with Xavier and Deborah’s achievement, “Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goals: my strength lies solely in my tenacity.”
